2015 LEG Glider Competition
The competition is over for this year.
The plan is to run it again next year to have a competition for those who like to
battle it out remotely in the sky and on the ground.
So if' you've got a motorised glider roughly like the Radian or the a Radian Pro,
have it ready for a fun competition for next year.
And don't forget that on the LEG competion Sunday mornings and lunch times
we got served a Burger with the lot, Bacon, egg, cheese, beetroot and more!
This years competition dates were as follows:
Sunday March 15 - Sunday May 10 - Sunday July 12 - Sunday September 13
Check the EPAC-2015-LEG-rules on the Competition Corner Tab.
Day 4
Sunday September 13 Results for todays final round. Well done John on todays effort. Nice save in the last heat when the trees behind the pits tried to grab your glider, and somehow you still managed a good score. Best times for today were: closest flight time = 5:01: John shortest distance = 3m: Mario lowest motor run = 26 secs: John. wind was a bit strong today, but no more than the previous rounds. Thanks Graham for putting on the BBQ again. if there is any changes you'd like to see in the rules, the event timings etc let me know and we can improve this for next year. Cheers, Mark Cummings

Day 3
Sunday July 12 Some hi-lights from today’s 3rd LEG competition day. - today was the windiest competition day so far, but at least it was mostly straight down the runway. Some competitors put on a brave face with the conditions which unsettled some in the first heat. - someone gave Adrian a flat battery in his first heat to ruin his chances of winning, but that backfired when the CD allowed a re-run! - Adrian was also blown miles down field in his 2nd heat, almost into WA. - John Manning used the eyes in the back of his head in heat 1, after he realised that his chair was facing the wrong way for landing. Unfortunately this led to landing through the fence and choped up one of his wings. We always recommend a cheese slicer for that instead. - Greg Turnbull flipped his glider on landing in the 2nd heat breaking a wing tip and had to resort to the spare glider for round 3. - Greg Castles narrowly avoided a tree when it jumped out in front of him at the eastern end of the field in the 2nd heat, but had a lucky bounce off the ground with almost no damage. - Mario accidentally turned off his radio in heat 3 before the motor run time was recorded earning him 0 points in that round. We all have ‘DOH!’ moments occasionally. - The BBQ put on by Graham was excellent once again (Maccas should be worried), luring competitors away from the comp at 3/4 time with burger/bacon/egg/cheese/onion + BBQ sauce, and beetroot optional, yum! - I was very impressed by the flight times which were all very close to 300 seconds, especially with the windy conditions which we had to deal with. - Thanks to Julian Johnson for coming down just to help out with the comp. regards, Mark Cummings

Day 2
Sunday May 10
The second leg of our "Limited Electric Glider" competition was another great success
with all competitors taking their flying machines home in one piece, but not necessarily
all at once, as one competitor had to be reminded by phone to return for the part left behind.
It was hot that morning; but everyone enjoyed the BBQ which was in full swing sating the
hungry and thirsty competitors and spectators alike throughout the event and on.
Another big thank you in your efforts of supporting the clubs finances.
So even if you don't fly a glider your self, pop round for a look
and a coffee and something off the BBQ and a cold drink.

Day 1
Sunday March 15
The first of four competition Sundays had the competitors huddled together
during an intense 30min thunderstorm after the first round.
All were searching for a dry spot in the pit area;
and they are still looking for it cause it rained mostly horizontally.
Happy to report that the rain wasn’t the cause of any material depreciation;
that was achieved through various other means.
A pie-run had the intrepid sailers quickly in the mood for more and the teeming interruption
was taken in stride and so the fierce rivalry continued on through round 2 and 3 of day one.
So, even if you couldn’t attend this LEG day, you can still win it !!!
Fly 3 tries per meet, only the better 2 count, out of 4 meets only the better 2 count.
So you have to compete in a minimum 2 meetings and have 2 counting flights per meet, and
if you’re the best of all, then you win !
